4/17 disgorgement. Aldehyde, bruised apple, yellow cherry, and barnyard funk on the nose, which does dissipate. The palate is pure citrus (lemon, grapefruit peel) and maraschino liqueur, with volume and excellent cut. The finish is dry, savory, and satisfying. Fantastic!

From 75cl. Last bottle of 6 bottles degorged Feb 2020, and the best showing yet. Bone dry, with finely poised, bright acidity, finely-etched, lip-smackingly sour bright-red fruit. Just wish I had another 6 bottles at this stage of develeopment to follow over the next 3 years. 90–91P

From 75cl, same batch as previously noted on 29.05.2021, but this bottle was in a better place: lovely strawberry/raspberry action, excellent balance, serious wine, where the sweetness comes from fruit, not sugar, and the texture is accordingly lithe. 89-90P

(NV Jean Lallement Champagne Grand Cru Réserve Rosée) Very light orange color with abundant, steady, tiny bubbles; golden raspberry, lightly yeasty nose; creamy textured, yeasty, golden raspberry, mineral palate; medium-plus finish (all 2009 Verzenay Pinot Noir; disgorged July 2012)
(NV Jean Lallement Champagne Grand Cru Réserve Rosée) Very light salmon pink color with tiny bubbles; light strawberry, pear nose; tart pear, light strawberry, mineral palate; medium-plus finish
(NV Jean Lallement Brut Rosé) ($75.00) All 2008, all PN, disgorged 11/10 – and man do these ‘08s have them some fruit! This is just so pretty and demure, and while it’s as dry as always, it grind with a dewy flowery shyness now. Maybe the classiest Rosé in this offering, and a fascinating contrast with Varnier; similar lightness and focus but entirely different fruit.
(NV Jean Lallement Champagne Grand Cru Réserve Rosée) Light yelllow pink color; light strawberry, white chocolate nose; strawberry, pink grapefruit palate; short-medium finish 88+ pts.

Nose of toasty walnut, strawberry, white peach with flavors of caramelized rhubarb, roasted apple, and cinnamon. Drinking very nicely.

Ridge Dinner 29 November - The Young Ones (Hawksmoor Guildhall): Lovely lovely start to the evening. Vinous. Rich. A hint - a hint of sweetness. Served from half magnum.
