Very mature color - amber with a touch of red in the center. Nose has lovely tertiary notes of crisp fall leaves, earth and tobacco. The palate has a quick rush of sweet fruit that is matched by mature complexity and a lively finish. This is very good and even better if you like older wines like I do. Super stuff. (91)
Seemed like dusty bookshelves on opening. Tawny in color almost like a Madeira. Very secondary/tertiary flavors of leather and cedar with just a little fruit on the mid-palate, but needed quite a vigorous aerating in the glass and it would come around. At the end of it's run. These can hold on, but Grand Riserva's are the ticket at this age.
