PnP at cellar temp - one sniff and you know it's a great wine. Bright black cherry aromas with an underlying herbaceous note. Some black pepper and menthol as well. Colour is a very saturated purple, almost like a light PS somehow. Flavour profile is herbs first, fruit second. The fruit is in the dark red realm. Great acid structure, not a huge amount of tannin, although it is present. (6:30)
After 10-15 minutes warming up and getting air, the above has simply intensified. A slightly bitter taste has emerged, but not in a bad or obtrusive way.
45 minutes in, this hasn't changed much but has continued to open up. Towards an hour now and it's actually shutting down a bit in the nose. Odd. The palate is also a little more spice-driven at this point.
2+ hours in, now it's changed and more earthy and mocha notes are coming out. The nose occasionally has hints of caramel. Overall this is a nice wine, a bit toward the new world style but with plenty of power, structure, acid, and complexity.
A very strange bottle of wine. Very light for a cab both in color and mouth feel. A spiciness to it that was unexpected but not unpleasant. Overall a very nice bottle of wine though maybe not great QPR.
Fruit and slight oak nose. First day opened as it was consumed over 2+hours. Started almost tart and them developed some chocolate and darker fruit with evolving tannins. Definitely one to let breathe prior to consumption.
