Drank from mag. Despite the age, the mag has preserved a lot of the ripe red berries and spices from the cask coat the palate. Cola, licorice and mocha add complexity and a long finish.
The cooperage feels good, but the fruit does not keep up - the 09 ripeness was there, but something felt lacking. Perhaps it wasn't meant to be drank so long after release?

A little closed on first opening but really expanded aromatically in the glass. Gentle, sandy grit and power. Fruit and savory components feel almost alpine, perhaps due to the elevation, yet display the subtle warmth of sonoma

Krotida Wine Gang Tasting, Hanzell Vineyards Chardonnay and Pinot Noir Vertical Tasting (Fita): 18 months elevage 50% new French oak barrels, bottled 05-08/04/2011, alcohol 14.5% The wine is quite darker in colour. The wine shows an earthier, spicier character, the fruit is riper, red fruits, sweet spices, oak frame. The palate is rich, ripe cherries and currants nice oak, a bit of alcohol heat, the tannins feel different, overall feels slightly harsher, medium finish
