Nose: Clean nose with a pronounced intensity. This wine is developing.
What a pleasure to smell this evolving wine. Dried black forest fruits over a collection of spices; nutmeg, vanilla, pepper.. just lovely. There is a long note of dark chocolate rounding into supple leather. Beautiful.
Palate: Dry Medium acidity Medium+ tannins Medium alcohol Medium+ intensity Medium+ body Medium+ finish
As with the nose; this wine is in a great place. Lots of dried fruits, spice and chocolate on the palate with silky smooth tannins and a great intensity of flavour. The finish is significant and pleasant. What a wonderful "Old World" expression of Malbec!
Excellent quality Malbec from Mendoz, Argentina. I think this wine is currently at the height of it's powers and won't benefit from further ageing. At 17 euros a bottle, outstanding QPR!

Paired with duck confit. Bought the bottle from Carmelo at his winery a year ago, brought it back and finally drank it. Well balanced. Holds its own with LaGrazette (Cahors) and Archaval Ferrer.

While we are somewhat sad this was our last CP bottle, we thoroughly enjoyed it. If we could only have two Malbecs in our cellar, it would be Carmelo Patti for his old world style of elegance and earthy nuances and Gimenez Riili G.R. for his new world style of power and exotic expression of the Malbec fruit. While we are now buying from Gimenez Riili directly, we need to find a way to source from Carmelo Patti.

We really dig this wine. You would never know this is a malbec if you were drinking it blind. Has an old world style with wonderful little nuances. Taste more like a sangiovese based wine then a malbec.

Good, but nothing spectacular. Drink now (don't wait for 2016)
