  • There is tremendous depth to be found in the bouquet of the ’09 Woodruff vineyard Chardonnay; literally a glass you want to sit with and indulge in over a long period of time. Ripe stone fruits, perfumed floral tones, and mineral depth kept me coming back to the glass. On the palate, it showed silky textures with admirable weight, yet remarkably fresh all the same with notes of ripe peach, herbs and minerals lasting into the finish. Just beautiful.

  • As others have said, this was bigger and more new world then I would have expected from a cool site...yet, despite not being a fan of that style, this was very good. Lots of buttery oak came through, somewhat full bodied, but nice pear and lemon flavors and good acidity. Probably will improve for another year or two. Good stuff.

  • Tasting with Pax Mahle (Domaine Wine Storage): Pax explained that they use 33% new oak on this but I would have guessed it was closer to 100%. This is rich and sappy with vanilla, smokey pear, and crushed stones. The palate did, however, have nice acidity that kept the rich flavors in check and balanced. Definitely more on the rich and big side of the spectrum, but it's clearly made well with really nice fruit.

  • A bit of a funkier stink on the nose than the Gap's Crown, but a little bit prettier overall as well. A touch rounder and fuller, and more harmonious in general. 89-90

  • Tasted at Falltacular. I like Pax' Chardonnay, particularly those that are mineralistic. This one did not taste like his usual like up. Lots of buttery taste, perhaps more Malo that I recall? I liked it. There was a second bottle of it that may have been corked.
