Tasted @ big Italy tasting. Breathtakingly beautiful nose of red fruits, sweet spices, flowers, tar and some minerality. It's medium-full bodied, very dense with medium-high acidity and medium-high tannin that is extremely silky for young Barolo. Very long finish. What strikes me most is the incredible harmony between all the components, even at this super early stage. Not a super-massive Rocche, more about finesse and elegance. (95+)
More ripe fruits than the Castiglione (also from Vietti), some oak, lavendar soap, flowers and a hint of tar. More herbal flavour than anything else, with restrained acidity and tannins. This was 95 points Parker. Retasted later in the evening from another bottle. My opinion was unchanged. Today at least, this was not a spectacular wine. It lacks the structure, fragrance and fresh fruit I expect in a Barolo at this price level.
