Had a 1999 a couple of years ago and it was showing VERY WELL at the time. The adage is that these pinots are super locked up and this one was no exception. As a 2010 pinot this one tasted, upon cork pop, like a barrel sample. Settled down and acid tamed after 45 min into a very nice pinot. Palate showed fig and black cherry pie with huge acidity on the front. Acidity balanced well with a trio of hummus. The middle of this wine descends into a dark abyss with a hint of tobacco that hits first, second with a minerality of limestone and dark spice and brambly berry. Finishes rather light and a touch acidic. Black cherry with a hint of pepper. Mildly acidic on the finish after it had opened. Balanced well but I think in all honesty that the peak of this wine is about 2 years away. I hate to think this one could get more complex but I believe it likely will!

A good wine, but already appears to be on the decline.
Lots of cinnamon on the nose. Overall, fruit has given way to spices. In the glass, very mild "bricking" is apparent.
On the palette, the wine has a good texture and mouthfeel. Not as structured and complex as the 2012, but still very enjoyable. Based on this tasting, if you have stock, drink it now as it's declining, fast!

Indian food at Divesh and Mathangi's house (Summit, NJ): Lovely dark fruits. Earth and forest floor. Drank wonderfully with the homemade Indian food. Drink now!

Bottle decant 3 hours, drank over two hours. Beautiful with Thanksgiving dinner. Beautiful red clarity, deep cherry, rich red fruit flavors.
