The Wines of Gevrey-Chambertin (Brooks Hotel, Dublin): (The "substitute" wine, in case another was corked.) A deep and intense colour compared to the others: very glossy and with little or no fade. Difficult initially to find any fruit on the nose, but floral notes and also an aniseed/menthol hint. Some bramble and red fruit notes eventually emerge. Quite a soft texture on the palate, without the structure of the last few wines. Lower acidity too. Somewhat lacking in length. Tannins not offensive however. This is a very well-made 2003.

Clear ruby colour.
Lots of spice and fruit - cherry & blackberry.
Smooth and powerful, medium/full body. Medium acidity and soft tannins.
