  • Renee and Gerry brought to dinner (+95 O Brian). This was really great and fun. Tasting something like this shows you why you like wine!! Balance friit length and most importantly - fresh after 25 yrs. last glas on day 2 was spectacular in its elegance all around!!!

  • Not premoxed which was the first hurdle. Ripe fruit mature on nose but lacked the nuts and steel of the best CC. Deep and powerful on palate with mature fruit and decent finish. Not as good as previous bottles but still enjoyable.

  • Not quite premixed but very ripe and a bit cloying. Ripe yellow fruit, butter scotch, smoke and sweet spices. Excellent concentration, packed very ripe yellow fruit, rich and deeply toned, bright acidity and mineral, and a medium to long ripe yellow fruit driven finish with a hint of butter scotch at the end. A bit tired.

  • Medium brassy golden yellow in color. Full, forward & fragrant nose of mature aromas of apples, citrus notes of lemons/limes & grapefruit with floral notes of honeysuckle, minerals, buttery, toffee/caramel & a hint of roasted hazelnuts in the background. Medium bodied with a good concentration of balanced & smooth textured, mature, ripe fruit flavors of tart green apples, lemons/limes & grapefruit with minerals, honey, buttery & stony. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present but at 25 years of age it may be headed on the downward leg of its development, so drink up! Not as enjoyable as the 1996 vintage noted here. Cork was intact & fill was good.

(Bonneau du Martray Corton-Charlemagne) Medium golden colour. The nose is a little closed with what I first thought to be faint oxidative notes but with air becomes honied. The palate is fat and concentrated showing real complexity and super acidity. The finish is reminiscent of fresh, wild strawberries. This wine will last a very long time - and will be super.
