Garnet to dark garnet color in the glass, clear looking throughout. Nose of plums, flowers and wet stones. Flavors of plums, black berries, black cherries and a hint of mint on the medium finish. Medium acidity, medium to firm tannin, full bodied. Drink or hold.
Decanted 1 hour +. Paired with a beautiful rib eye off the grill with sweet onion, portabella and many colored sweet peppers.
Nose had pleasant, if reticent, dark blue and black fruit. Medium bodied on the palate with nice balance. Very lovely pairing but little in the way of complexity beyond a touch of wood spice (well integrated).
The color is inky dark and opaque, with good clarity. The smells are ripe currant, blackberry, and earth. The tastes are cherry, blueberry, sweet spice, cola, and earth. This is delicious with dusty but fine tannins with a finish that reveals barrel tastes and texture.
