Solid, and above expectations. Not “too WA”, in the best possible sense of not being homogeneous, over-oaked no-sense-of-place wine. Will be interesting to compare it to 2007, and I suspect I may like this better, likely due to 2008 being the slightly “lesser” but cooler and more to my taste vintage.

In a perfect spot right now! The nose from the glass and the decanter were quite different; the decanter wafted of yeast and the glass was woody. The first sip was amazing with a lot of berry and minor notes of licorice and menthol. After an hour decant, the nose is woody and floral. On the palate, the wine is woodsy with deep dark cherry, cassis, tannins and acid to cut through steak as an accompaniment. This wine is singing in the middle of a great window of opportunity, so go ahead and enjoy it. I agree with the TN below as the fruit and tannins are perfectly integrated. It's one of the better wines I have had in a while.

1.5L - Absolutely amazing, excellent balance, wine of the night alongside Quilceda Creek and Figgins.
