  • Very elegant, not heavy, smooth

  • Deep dark ruby. Big. Too big. And to us, it was quite monolithic. The 14.5 percent admitted on the label certainly shows. We tried to put up with this unfriendly fellow for three nights — and then finally into the refrigerator most of it went, and eventually into a sauce. I suppose there was a time when we liked these kind of things — but certainly no more. Nice sauce, though.

  • This Châteauneuf-du-Pape was less exciting than the one I had just a few months ago; bottle to bottle variation ??
Perfect cork after over a decade in the bottle, easily removed. Opend with friends at dinner. Deep dark ruby color with modest oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of black cherry with a lot of licorice. Flavors of fig, blackberry, and cooked leather with a medium finish. This bottle was little out of balance; embarrassed I re-corked the last 5 ounces to try the next day. Sadly, no improvement the next day !! This blend is composed of 80% Grenache with the remaining percentage consisting of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault. This bottle tasted past peak and was my last bottle of this vintage remaining in my cellar.

  • Châteauneuf-du-Pape requires a decade and patience is rewarded here !!
Perfect cork after over a decade in the bottle, easily removed. Consumed with friends alongside other great Rhone varietals. Deep dark ruby color with no oxidation, clarity medium. Aromas of black cherry with a hint of licorice. Flavors of fig, blackberry, and leather with a medium to long finish. A very balanced flavorful blend composed of 80% Grenache with the remaining percentage consisting of Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault. This is a balanced and age worthy wine with more years of life left, fortunately I still have one bottle of this vintage remaining in my cellar. Great fruit and a great winemaking effort.
