Wow, what a P/Q, and what an entry level wine. I should have bought cases when WHWC cleared them out at $17. Beautiful wine, has it all; citrus, floral scents and great minerality. A wee bit simple if I'm to compare to a chard at 10x the price. Not threatening to fall off a cliff any time soon, but probably peaking and good for a couple of more years.
My 3rd of 3 bottles. Opened yesterday, enjoyed a few glasses. This TN is from tonite. Pale gold in color, fades to a watery rim. The nose is clean, and offers up developing, med intensity aromas of red apple and pear, a definite spiciness, some faint lemon, maybe a hint of grapefruit, and a mineral chalkiness. Very nice. The palate shows a dry white wine, full in body and med alcohol (listed 13.8% abv), with med intensity flavors of ripe pear skin, red apple, lemon, grapefruit zest/spice, and slate-like minerality. The acidity is surprisingly at a med (or even med+) level, making the wine so refreshing and delicious...a stark contrast to the average Calif Chard. There is a med+ finish, echoing the flavors from the palate. This is a high quality wine, drinking beautifully now, and it has the acidity and fruit to continue to age and drink well for another 2+ years or so. I think it is really at a delicious apex of drinkability, and I would consume it soon, as it is so well structured and well balanced, I would hate to miss out on the experience by cellaring too long. Delightful wine!
