Festa del Piemonte: Gala Dinner (The Pool in NYC): There are many different styles of barolo and to each their own. I often find that a lot of new oak need a lot of time for me and can come across as a bit much. This was starting to integrate although not there yet. Still quite big and darker and a touch oaky and lots of spice notes. Give it more time.

Nose of tar and dark chocolate. Palate is light, succulent, and has plenty if red and black fruit. Has a slightly steely finish, which is why I rated it at 89 (< 90).

Dry fruit and leather nose with a hint of roses. A relatively dried fruit showed up after 30mins. with a slightly bitter aftertaste. A typical 2000 vintage from a very good producer. Drink now.

Well made. Approachable and rich. Strawberry, cherry, earth spice. Nice fresh finish.
