Of two bottles, first I had was 12 years old in 2012 (see note) and I held on to the second for another 12 years. Was better at age 12 than 24, but still rather good. This bottle persists with exotic aromatics and rustic flavor profile, minus the freshness and without any necessary additional tertiary complexity. No VA. Guess I should look to open the 2002s.

This showed so beautifully balanced, best I've had thus far of this wine. Similar TN as prior bottles, but even better and paired perfectly with pasta in basil marinara. Old world charm with layers of complexity, drinking great now.

Like most Etna reds, this Nerello wine reminds me of Nebbiolo or Burgundian Pinot Noir in many ways, including the lightness of color and transparency, the deep earthiness and the multiple layers of fragrance and flavor. Needed 45 minutes in the glass to open up. Big nose of barnyard, earth and minerals, herbs, cedar. Red and black fruit flavors, more cedar, leather, nice hint of sweetness. Big acid backbone, still almost lip-smacking after all these years ! Full tannins, but fine, some nice dustiness. Very, very long. Great !

Probably held on to it a little long but still enjoyable.

I don't get all the CT love for this wine. Frankly I found it quite stewed and more than a bit volatile. Could have been a bad bottle I suppose.
