  Still drinking well but time to drink up. Big Syrah we drank with our best friends Greg and Sue visiting from Chicago. Beef tenderloin and swordfish. We also opened a 2012 Jaffurs from Larner. I thought that the Jaffurs drank a bit better.

  Love the Syrahs from Larner. Deep garnet (inky) dark fruits, earthy mineral notes, java.

  Really opened up on day 2. Was a little muted on day 1. Fruit and restrained funk on the nose. Elegant, spicy, complex, but earthy, like a cow in an evening dress. Medium body. Long finish. Very different character from day 1 to 2. An hour long decant wasn't enough. At peak but the acidity suggests it'll keep for a few more years.

  Elegant, complex. Black and blue fruit predominate. Tannins and acidity are nicely balanced against that. Moderate finish. Beautiful wine.
  
  I feel a little lucky to have scored this for $55.

  Had a bottle last night. It was amazing.
  Clean and crisp like a cold climate Melville but way more complexity and depth.
  It evolved over the hour we drank it - Kalamata olives, jerkied meat, cherry, menthol, earthy soil... Held up great with grilled ribeye and lamb chops.
  Drink up if you have it! It is time
