M&PD Tasting: Westward (Seattle, WA, USA): A bit of gold color. This opens up with a big nose of hazelnuts, really quite exotic, touch of oak. The palate is waxy and rich at first, just delicious. It didn't seem very Chevalier-Montrachet when first opened. However when I circled back a few hours later it had focused down into a much more minerally, precise, saline and savory wine. Really Chevy at the end of the night.

J4. Did not taste like traditional Chevy (probably due to age), but beautiful wine. Waxy and round, with a bottom of mint, nuts and petrol. Long finish. MPD at Westward.

Not oxidized. Little changed from my last outing five years ago, except a deeper golden color and more deeply pitched presentation. Slightly warm finish. Not much depth of interest; the characteristic mineral core is buried eighty feet under ripe, if not overripe, orchard fruit. Yet the midpalate also comes across as a bit dilute or diffuse. At once too rich and too weak.

Pulled for Bonnie's birthday. Bleached cork. Med.-deep gold. Unmistakeable sherry on the nose - premox'd. Kinda drinkable, but not enjoyable. Too bad, as underlying material seems good. Part of a lot purchased at Acker auction that included a stunning 99 G. Deleger Chevalier, so storage not likely the issue. NR

Dark yellow. Beautiful yellow fruits and minerals. Good dose of oak. Although there is some development noticeable, this wine needs a few more years to show all it has in store. 93 for now.
