Decanted approx. 2 hour ... Nose of plum and strawberry, but it's a fake out as fruit palate is lighter cherry and raspberries all the way. Lots of earthy goodness, with mineral finish and minimal oak. Smooth after the decant, but tannins still firmly present, with a refreshing acid pop.
This wine is at an interesting point, still great black and blue fruit on the palate, but a rather odd, almost musty nose, it did seems to open up and get better with some air, if I had to open this bottle again I would have given it at least an hour decant.
This started a bit slow and felt heavy and tired when popped. Don't be fooled, it takes off within an hour or two. Still a brute of a wine, very dark and imposing, almost a wall in that it imposes but isn't necessarily giving. This meaty/iron/dark/salty/stony black hole also happens to taste of luscious blackberry and black plum skin. It also has a thin veneer of perfume that rides just on the surface. This is still very tannic, has structure and is overall very young. Perhaps I should read my own notes. This needs time to get things into balance. 2018.
