I seem to have four uninventoried bottles of this. Pooped and poured one tonight. It is purple in the glass, becoming a bit translucent at the edges. The nose is purple fruit, forest floor detritus and wet saddle leather. Balanced fruit and tannin on the palate, with a long, intense and sweet fruit finish.
With veal chop, mushrooms, asparagus. Outstanding!! Decanted for about one hour. The youngness had gone from color and nose but it looked dark red and had a deep red fruit nose with some spice. On the palate immediate signs of a full bodied claret. It just kept developing into new stuff. great finish. Excellent effort that will be alive for some time to come (at least 5 years).
Similar notes to 06/2009 bottle, only better, especially on day two after it had a lot of time to breathe. Currants and dried cherries; savory/earthy structure; beautiful long finish. This one seems to be really coming into its own and definitely one of the better 2003s I have had.
