At The Willows. This was a backup bottle, but the champagne ran out before the seafood dishes ended. A beautiful bottle, a rounder, fuller style I've noticed in Davissat's Forests. The hard edges were probably softened by his use of old barrels. More lemon curd than zest, some limestone minerality. I've taken to drinking these younger, and will only save a couple to see how they age long term. No harm in opening now, this is well within a nice drinking window.
Chad Stock of Minimum Wines (E&R Wine Shop, Portland OR): Soft and smooth aromas. Rich and elegant. Very pretty and floral, with some pollen notes. Hugely pretty. Soft and smooth palate, rich harmony dials up and begins offering beautiful balance and texture as its held in the mouth... impressive how it only gets better as it sits on the palate. Wonderful and gorgeous stuff! Absolutely beautiful and wonderful impression on the finish. This wine is just so pretty.
Chad Stock of Minimus Wines (E&R Wine Shop; Portland, OR): Great peach and mineral scents fill the glass and display gorgeous depth. Blind, I’d be very confident that this was Riesling, which is a surprising experience. This is awesome when tasted. Citrus with great depth flows across the palate while light floral notes float above it. Even acidity has excellent texture to it, and ripe peaches are spiced up by a touch of evergreen later.
