As with my first bottle of this three years ago, the reductive element gives it a wonderfully evocative nose of bacon fat, the frazzle effect becoming more refined with air. Dark and brooding, this is a long way from what one thinks of as Volnay, but it’s very drinkable nonetheless. A touch too much fine sediment to have made a mid bottle Fourrier-shake a good idea, so one to enjoy for its bacon persona in the future I think. Bare ****

Almost unpleasant right out of the bottle but develops to give off a bit of burgundy funk, violets, cherries, and strawberries with savory notes of earth, tea, and wet leaves. There's a tightness and astringency to the fruit that never completely comes together on the med finish.

Very floral enjoyable nose. Palate simple and already a good amount of bricking. Like others, I'm not sure where this goes from here. It may just sit in this same spot for a decent number of years. But the drinking window is open.
