  • Decant 3.5 hrs. In drink window. - yet still has years left. Seductive nose. Elegant w/Structure - Iron fist/Velvet glove. Does NOT disappoint. Long finish. Would Buy again. Lasts till end. 97+

  • Man I tell ya, I last had this nearly five years ago and my note then is just as applicable as it is now. Solid stuff here that is absolutely able to (and perhaps should) age for longer. This actually needed a 3+ hour decant to really get going. And even on the last sips, it was still evolving. I’d hold remaining bottles for another 3-5 years with complete confidence. In fact, don’t open for a few years… not because it isn’t “ready” or accessible, but because it’s probably going to get even better; much better.

More endurance and focus than its 2012 sibling, but still just as sophisticated. The perfect BDX/Napa hybrid without being a lithe or boring rip off from across the Atlantic. Love it.

  • Superb wine. It was mature, but still had the potential to hold for at least a decade. The nose and body were so great. The impressive part was lasting, which was persistent and long. It’s time to pop more wines from Calistoga.

  • Lots of blackberry power. An herbal quality about it for sure, and I think I was getting a little bit of eucalyptus as well. This was enjoyed next to a Shafer Hillside Select 2012 and had a much more complex finish with toasted tannins and lots of black pepper grip. This one has decades ahead of it. As I still feel that there was some in reserve.

  • Outstanding and fully mature. Dark garnet, opaque, with powerful dark fruit aromas, hint of herbal and cassis. Full-bodied dark fruit flavors, concentrated, but very smooth and round. This still has years of peak drinking.
