A really nice meaty, smoky and spicy nose into a pretty prototypical "rotie," which is where the issue comes up. This is not a $100+ wine. It is a nice wine, but I've had a lot of Cali "rhone style" syrah-based wines that are just a touch more acid structure away from being this wine at 25% of the price. Again, you shouldn't turn it down if someone is offering or it's in your cellar, as it is an approachable and nice wine, but not a buy at this price.
