  • Dissension in the ranks. Timmy Bird , Fatsie and I thought the 83 Mossy was a cracker. And it should be as its always a good vintage and cracking wine. this bottle had all the hallmarks of classic old Moss Wood with Savory earth, dark red and black fruit, but was still deep evolving tannic and dry. Peter was unconvinced thinking it was to tannic and dry and unlikely to improve. but whilst i agreed it was dry and tannic i still thought the stuffing and pedigree was there for this wine to continue to improve over further decades. Totally outclassed on the night by two Yarra yering dry Red no. 1's and a 34 Pommard and 53 Treasure Chest but still held it head high.

  • Year-End Wine Dinner @ GWC!: Guessed this to be an old Napa. Sweet notes, plums. This has held up very well for a 1983. Bravo!

  • During a year end wine dinner. Tasted blind. Sweet and rich, ripe lots of plum and cooked fruit, clearly picked late, Napa?. Not so much my style but impressive how this has held for 40 years, drinks much more youthful.
