70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet franc from deep course gravel soil on the Bages plateau in Pauillac. 12% Abv. Proprietors: Famille Borie
In my cellar since release. Like new label. Low neck fill. Perfectly intact cork. Double decanted 6+ hrs.
A(ccuracy)=2: Clear brick/amber rim. Mature, suave claret. B(alance)=3: Tertiary components in harmony. C(omplexity)=2: Berry liquor, lychee, smoke, tobacco.. D(epth)=1: Silky mouthfeel. Good length and finish.
Wine Tally Score [2,3,2,1] = 8/10
Written off by most as passé by age 18. This bottle was vibrant and silky smooth at 38.

very bricking in color which shows the age of the bottle. very noticeable mushroom and a hint of green grass. but, short to medium finish with very little (or none) fruit. this is obvious way past it peak, and feel nothing much left in the bottle.

Served blind. Lots of bricking obviously well aged, but very clear and not too much sediment. Highly developed tertiary flavours of mushroom and forest floor. Not much fruit left but a medium long finish and no bitter aftertaste. Very interesting wine to try and still enjoyable, albeit on the decline at this point. I guessed left bank 20yrs+. Drink up.
