Baked apples and some peaches appear on the nose, as well as a little orange peel. The wine is crisp on the palate, delivering red apple flavors similar to the 07 Sonoma Coast. The apple flavors linger, but some heat distracts me from the good stuff.
Had alongside the 07 Napa and Sonoma Coast Chardonnays: Greener melon nose, slightly salty, oak without being buttery. On the palate this is less interesting than the other bottlings but the progression through the palate is quite nice. Medium weight. I like the simpler but more forward approach to the fruit on this wine. My friend pointed out some heat on the finish, it didn't immediately jump out at me but once he said something I could sense it. Nice length on this as well. Overall this was a nice Chardonnay, good balance, fruit and length.
