  • Dinner at Etto: Deep but gorgeous nose, gobs of cherries topped in smoke, pepper, sage, earth. Aged well, this is bright and lively with pepper, smoke, fennel, scorched earth.

  • Pop and pour. The nose is incredible deep with layers of red floral, dark fruit, subtle forestal tones and lots of pepper. It's spicy, exotic and complex. As is the case with many 2009s, the palate is lush and refined but the red fruit here is spicier (than most other 2009s cab francs) with subtle undertones of cedar and tobacco. The weight of this wine is not to be forgotten...the vintage gives it a creaminess that the 2007 version just doesn't have, but I don't think it makes the package any less intriguing. The finish has nice acidity and silky tannins. Should age well.

  • Small taste.
Nose of dark fruit, roasted poblano pepper, pepper.
Palate of dark cherry skin, little raspberry, green pepper skin, cedar, minerals.
The finish was above average to long and the acidity is high with tannins still showing.
Overall the wine was really an excellent bottle of wine.
