  • good smooth if perhaps a bit nondescript. no off aromas (mercaptans) that i seem to detect in some of the D. Mortet wines

  • Bottle breathe for 2 hours. The nose offers bouquet but a lot more shy than 2012 vintage (which is 4-5x more!!). A little stiff on the palate, which takes another 1 hour to open up. Rounded and fresh fruit with medium intensity, well balance and medium finishing. Will suggest another 2-3 years cellaring or 3 hours+ bottle breathe.

  • Deep garnet. Pleasantly fragrant but not especially complex or powerful. Red and black fruits, still some tannin and a bit of oak showing. Savoury and persistent on the finish. I think this has the raw material to be a lot better in time but is not at its best right now.

  • Burgundy Lunch (with some pirates): This wine is still a bit shy. A few promising traits but not the most complex and precise wine. Still in 5++ more years with some tertiary aromatics developed this might drink very well.

TN: A tad muted note with still some oak showing aside from some cola and stems. Same on the palate. A tad tight but still quite round and soft and with a good freshness. Not showing a vast array of aromas, medium intense, medium precision only with some earthy, stems and cola aromas along a quite sweet red fruit core. Good balance

Decanting: Not decanted. I would go for at least 3+ hours in the decanter prior to drinking.

  • During a tasting. Expressive and very floral nose with red fruit wafting from the glass. On the palate medium+ bodied for a Burg, a bit too much oak that needs further integration. Good promise here. Better wait till 2023.
