Opened for cooking and decided to drink some. Tastes flat and is beyond its life. Fortunately, my wife and our guests enjoyed this, I had a glass and just waited until the next wine was ready to drink. For $11, who really cares? Drink up.

I found the wine to be very hot and rather acidic at the same time – but not crisp acid, more lactic/creamy/full-bodied in nature. After I got the hotness I checked the alcohol levels and was stunned to see a number of 14.5%. The end result is a wine that has identifiable Chenin Blanc characteristics in the taste but that has a body and structure much more like the typical big California Chardonnay. Not recommended.

Setting: Study Group / Loire Appearance: bright, medium intensity gold core with green flecks, very slight rim Nose: medium+ intensity, smoky, cedar, copper-mineral notes, honeyed, some alcohol heat Palate: dry-off dry, mineral, riverstones, toasted oak, citrus-lemon notes, average acidity, higher alcohol, obvious oak treatment giving slight tannins to this white wine, rounded medium-full body with a medium-long finish, ok fruit component and ok balance Comments: 14.7%, $21, the ringer! ok for another 2-3 years, commercial+ quality, my notes from tasting blind: needs food, new world-higher oak, hard to tell if not a Cali Chard with oak or a Fume Blanc - finally got 1 right (sort of)!

Definitely way past time to open but surprisingly it was drinkable! Some oxidation but not enough to completly swamp the fruit.

Acidic, overoaked with high alcohol content. I love most Chappellet wines ..... but not this one.
