Dense, opaque dark brugundy color. Rich, fruit-forward nose with sweet, sunny fruit on the fore, borderlining even some jammy notes, supported with nuances of black pepper, some smoke, ripe boysenberries, a little maraschino cherry and a touch of blackberry marmalade. Oh, and of course, lots and lots of sweet oak. On the palate the wine is extremely full-bodied and rich with jammy fruit notes of plummy dark fruit, smoke, ripe blackberry, vanilla toffee, some black pepper and a little cocoa. Despite the moderately pronounced tannins and monolithic fruit, the wine is smooth, round and velvety. All the pieces seem to fit with surprising ease to the big picture and the wine is somehow quite balanced with moderate acidity and it manages to be even pretty enjoyable, despite being an obvious anti-AFWE-wine. The medium-long finish is pretty warm with spicy and aromatic aftertaste that trends towards dry and savory.
A monolithic, yet surprisingly serious over-the-top Aussie Shiraz - especially for a fruit-forward jam bomb. Shows some Motörhead kind of "everything louder than everyone else" mentality that feels, however, quite dull and heavy after few sips. Probably really impressive an effort for the fans of the new world style, but quite a bit too heavy for me. I'd love to see how a wine like this will behave in the cellar. For me the wine is a bit too expensive at 27,90€, but for the fans of the style, probably not.

Was worried that this just might be past its peak, but was drinking really nicely. smooth tannins and was a pleasure to drink with Wagyu steak.
