A little thin and flimsy driven by acid and lean red fruits on opening. Fattened hugely and sprung to life after 3 hours in the decanter, ripe dark black cherries, cranberry, herbs and a whif of smoke. Lovely

The second of three wines this evening to celebrate the coming New Year. For a good price of the wine list in Belgium. This was even better than I hoped for...Amazing wine which kept on surprising me in 2,5 hours time. Jancis Robinson writes "A blind tasting of everyone’s Échezeaux would be interesting...!" and I agree with her. Label drinkers will maybe score lower seeing it is "just" Lamarche, but I am very impressed with this wine. Should have been decanted though seeing the last glass was the best!

Vosne Romanee and Flagey-Echezeaux (Beltramo's, Menlo Park): Deepest color of the tasting. Nose dominated by green herbs. Large scaled and not as imprinted by oak as the '09 Les Chaumes. Round feel, subdued black fruit, acidity noticeably lower than in the Gros Frere Echezeaux, licorice finish. Easy for this level. Good but undistinguished, especially at this price. I did not like the vegetal edge of the 2 Lamarche wines today.

Dark ruby. Lots of oak upon opening but really develops wonderful perfume with time. This is a wine, and a Domaine, to follow. From JS at Uovo

Tasting at Domaine Lafarge, Domaine Lamarche and Domaine Bertheau (Volnay, Vosne-Romanée and Chambolle-Musigny): Lots of violets on the nose, ripe and round, with supple tannins. Very good.
