I thought this was over the hill 18 months ago when I tried a bottle. I still do, but this bottle did drink a bit better. Faintly spicy and raspberry nose. Bright raspberry fruit, some spice. Tannins nicely resolved. Bit too acidic for my taste. Finishes moderately long and a bit harsh. Probably seen better days, but with the balance a bit off, it wasn't going to make old bones. Drink up. 15.2% ABV.

Over the hill. The wonderful dark fruit is spoiled by harsh tannins and a volatile note. Short to non-existent finish. No subtlety left in this wine at all. Wish I had drunk this a couple of years ago. Not fair to rate it at this point in its life.

Another excellent bottling from this iconic vineyard. Ruby, with medium + intensity. Thick, dark, viscous legs. The nose is clean, complex and still developing, with medium (+) intensity. Ripe black cherry, red currant, black plum, sweet baking spices, with a nice overlay of oak (vanilla and caramel). The palate is dry but very fruity, with a very luscious mouthfeel. The acidity and tannins are medium and the alcohol is high (15.2%) but so well integrated that it is not particularly noticeable. The flavors are consistent with the nose, with primarily ripe black cherry, black currant and dark chocolate. The wine is full bodied to robust. The flavors are intense, with great length. This wine is drinking well now, is still fairly youthful, and will probably continue to do well for several more years. It is remarkably well balanced considering its big, luscious and brash style, but that is also its appeal. Would gladly buy again.

Nearly opaque ruby color with kirsh, baked blueberry and blackberry, plum, vanilla, leather and a bit of eucalyptus aromas. It's a tad hot. On the palate it's big, broad and hedonistic with good acidity and a very supple texture. It shows bright baked blueberry, vanilla, baked cherry, and a hint of chocolate flavors. Long finish. Damned tasty@
