  • Tremendously fresh, tremendously enjoyable. Ageless colour - deep red and crimson. Lovely deep savoury wine….olives and cardamom/clove complexity as a backdrop for dark fruits (blackberry). Still a tough of puckery tannins. Feels like at least 10 years further in it.

  • It had plenty of menthol and black olive to the aroma along with dark fruits and a hint of earth and mushroom development. It was silky of texture and fruits had a savoury edge on the palate. Tannins were moderate and gravelly. It was mid-weight and balanced and in such a lovely place.

  • Random wines tasted during service (Oinoscent): Brought to drink at Oinoscent during service, bottle open 14.20, tasted after 1hr in a decanter
The wine feels reserved, rather closed at this point still, earthy, spicy notes, cooves, black pepper, dried red and black fruit flavors.
Palate with density, roasted flavors, spicy, a touc warm, thick old school oak frame (but in a good way), spicy notes, black currant notes, some dry herb nbotes, tight texture and tannic, long finish
With more time in the glass, you get a few bitter almond notes, the wine keeps expanding, tannins become juicier.
A truly beautiful wine, by all accounts youthful, it came from a magnum though.

  • Tasting Ground official tasting, Cornas La Geynale, From Uncle to Nephew (Oinoscent): Bottles open 10.15 and tasted 14.00, no decant
The wine feels bigger in the nose, more black fruit rather than the red fruit of Robert Michel’s versions. The wine feels warmer (14% compared to 13% of 2004-2006), some sour cherry notes, cinnamon, clove with graphite-like notes
Palate is big, dense, again rather warm, the fruit is again blacker, very fresh, full body, nice acidity, currant, cherries, licorice, peppery, long finish

  • The wine is clear, with deep ruby colour, garnet towards the rims, and thick legs.

On the nose, the wine is clean, with medium plus primary aroma intensity of ripe red fruits, cassis, spices, black pepper, herbs, mint, garrigue, medium secondary aroma intensity of clove, and medium tertiary aroma intensity of meat, earth, and hints of sweat.

On the palate, the wine is dry, with medium plus acidity, medium green tannins, medium plus alcohol, medium body, medium plus primary flavour intensity of green apples, red fruits, plums, sour cherries, cassis, herbs, mint, and medium secondary flavour intensity of clove.

Finish is long, with pronounce green notes across mid & end palate.

The wine is of an outstanding quality I believe, as it is showing excellent balance between primary concentrated fruits characteristics, acidity and minimality.
It is pleasantly intense, with rich grippy texture, great length and appealing complexity.

The wine was expressive enough at time of tasting, but ahead of its drinking window, as it was showing pronounce green notes, and mainly primary characteristics, however will become outstanding with future bottle aging.
