Unscrewed 45 minutes before consumption. Some 18+ months since my first exploratory bottle and note; the wine has now hit its plateau with c.3+ yrs ahead of it at this peak. Lemon oil with merest hint of riesling diesel: in the mouth racy grapefruit and russet apple flavours - off dry with a refreshingly assertive but integrated acid spine. Perfect balance. Very good with perhaps another point in it with further cellaring. 89+
Riesling continuing to show why at most levels it is the finest and certainly the most interesting grape variety. New cut hay colour, fresh grapefruit aroma with hint of more aromatic tropical fruits. Pear drop, lemon curd touches with a back flavour of crisp apple and zingy citrusy acidity. Weight: medium. No sweeter than off-dry with great race and very long clean after taste. Don't overchill. Clearly one of those Rieslings with a structure to evolve, deepen and drink well at all ages until its eventual death throws perhaps 8+yrs from vintage (if well cellared). Looking forward to drinking and reporting back on this wine at regular intervals over the years. Mark a starting point. It's evolution could send its rating in any direction at any time - thus the fascination of the mighty Riesling.
