  • Maturing golden color. Mandarin orange more than orchard fruit, verbena, and stone. On the palate, more mandarin orange, some lemon curd, and a hint of vanilla. Toothsome with bright acidity and a stoniness on the palate. The fruit is turning toward where the '08 is currently. Very good, almost outstanding, but if this bottle is representative, even this lover of mature wines thinks its headed downhill from here.

  • Wow! A step-up in flavor and taste from the previous bottle opened on 1/23/2021. Really lovely.

Removing the cork was a struggle; it came apart in two pieces.

Color was a nice yellow, revealing some age, but much lighter than what one would imagine for a 11 year-old domestic Chardonnay.

Nose and palate are quite complex with flavors of apple, almond, beeswax, bitter lemon, quince, and a vanilla-ish element. Noticed just a touch of Mandarin citrus on the finish. A little more butter-scotch, lime, and honey-comb quality after 30 minutes of air time. Very silky. The oak is very restrained too non-existent.

This is not your ordinary domestic Chardonnay. So elegant and complex! More in line with aged Chablis or Burgundies than its domestic cousins. Amazing.

Probably at its peak of enjoyment. I wish I had a few more bottles to share with others as this is how an outstanding aged Chardonnay should comport.

(Served with roasted chicken, mixed vegetables, and rye bread and butter.)

  • Wanted to try this wine (and vintage) after having a wonderful 2010 Eyrie Vineyards Chardonnay Original Vines back in 2009; both were purchased at Liner & Elson, in Portland, OR.

Fill was excellent and cork removed in one piece. Color is wonderful, with no hint of over age. Nose was a bit reticent when first opened and most interesting at about 30. Not a candidate for decanting.

Refined flavors. Subtle. Not as crisp as a Chablis; quite resolved. Flavors of apple and almond mostly. Nice for an 11 years old. Drink up.

Not as profound as the Eyrie Vineyards Chardonnay Original Vines form the same year, still it is a nice wine.

(Served with roast pork with cream and onion gravy (NYT) and baked fennel with sage (Lidia) and smashed potatoes.)

  • Talula's Table with a few Berserkers - Late Summer menu: This was in a flight of two wines. The other was a 2002 Jean Dauvissat Montmains. When smelling the two wines, I would have bet anything the Cameron was the Chablis. Intense salty, mineral overtones. I can't remember having a US wine that smelled so much like Chablis. On the palate, this is taut, intense and surprisingly very young. I really need to start exploring Oregon Chardonnay. Very good.

  • Champagne & Cameron (Etto - DC): Nose shows a lot of complexity in terms of honey, almond, coconut, orange creamsicle, wow. Creamy-waxy texture, precise acidity. Almond, honey, apricot, white tea. Very pretty stuff with some serious complexity that would reward even more time in the cellar or more of my concentration.
