Make absolutely sure you give this a decant and some time. My opinion mirrored that of "sourness" mentioned earlier. It was very lean, volatile. Worst wine I'd had in a little while. Gave it some blow off time and I was actually pleasantly impressed, considering the basement level expectations. It turned into a nice syrah. Reductive grape. Listen close, if you still have this, decant and leave for at least an hour before assessing. FWIW it is not close to over the hill either.

PMcCullough: nothing redeeming about this wine. The nose is sour and the taste not much better. This tastes similar to the wine I make - bad. Ever at $10 a bottle - it's not worth it.

Over-hyped budget Washington Syrah? There's a lot to like in this wine, and it's attractively priced, but for me it just falls short of expectations. Sweet nose of smashed berries and cinnamon with a bright red color. Almost resembling a Pinot Noir to start, this red reflects notes of stewed plums, juicy wild berry and underbrush. After 4 hours of aeration, this journey's into Zinfandel territory with a more red raspberry presentation and distinct, candied cherries. A lingering and unique blueberry essence emerges on an interesting finish. The second evening brought an increase of alcohol on the palate. If this was blind tasted it would be hard to indicate this varietal as a Syrah. Drink now and over the next few years.

Basic simple Syrah. No objectionable aromas or flavors. Not bad. Not complex. Good for the price.
