A year and a half later. Time isn't helping this wine. Fruit is fading a little and the wine isn't gaining any depth or complexity. Still ok with food but not a drink to savor...

Popped and poured. Maybe could use some breathing.
Deep purple to ruby rim.
Unusual but interesting nose of cherry cola (or Dr. Pepper?), mint, herbs, vanilla and violets.
Tart and a bit astringent on the palate but with decent fruit and the tannins are in balance. Nice long finish. Better with food (skirt steak) than sipping afterward.

Open one day at time of tasting, but sealed with a vacu-vin system.
Sweet dark cherries on the nose. Burnt rubber mixed with dark over-ripe burnt cherry and smoke and a hint of carmelized onion / green pepper on the front of the palate, moving to over-ripe and very astringent / acidic / tannic prune after-taste, mixed with a non-carbonated overly-acidic cherry cola taste. Seems a bit out of balance.
Improves with multiple tastes, but still extremely astringent / tannic, and seems out of balance for what it is. 83-84
