Slightly hazy. Ruby. Pronounced and developed nose. Barnyard. Serious flint (too much actually). Smoke and stems. Medium to full bodied. Medium tannins. Long finish. Dark fruits. Structure. Warm vintage. Complex and balanced in the palate. But sadly the nose was a touch overbearing.

It's hard not to think of dessert when I smell this wine: chocolate cake, cherries, coffee. Shows much riper and intense fruit notes than the 2009 Beaux Monts, but it does not have the soft, enveloping tannins and notes of musk of the other wine. Like a liquor of pinot noir combined with earthy and mineral notes and coffee. Excellent wine and worth pursuing.

Top 09 and 10 red Burgundy tasting (Capital Grill at Tysons corner, VA): The only wine with a hint of green pepper/stem note. Perhaps the biggest and most expressive wine of the night. Very expressive nose of black fruits, black cherries, roasted almonds, earth and cola. Excellent concentration, unctuous and round palate and long finish. With a couple hours of air, strong ground espresso bean note. This is certainly a very impressive wine but tasting none-blind, this doesn’t have the material, ie precision, delicacy and core energy that one finds in grand crus. Nevertheless perhaps the most hedonistic wine along with the La Tache. The second wine of the night by consensus.
