Vibrant and translucent color in the glass. Cool, dark red/blue fruit and a hint of menthol on the nose. The palate, while open and giving, is full of tension from the vervy and juicy dark red/blue fruits while the fine-grained tannins in the background extend the finish. This is very polished and pure, drinking quite well now and should age beautifully.
Frederic Esmonin-Some Early Arriving 2010s (Dig Wines, San Francisco): A little less saturated than the Estournelles. Reduced nose with some menthol. Lighter in the mouth but really fine licorice/anise and black fruit that is equally expansive and long as in the prior wine. Wonderful mouth feel, good acidity, smoothly ripe tannins and a touch of wood. Both the Premier Cru and Grand Cru tried today are probably more promising and refined than anything I've had in the past from Esmonin. Well done!
