PnP It's possible we didn't have the ideal paring here as our red bean, rice, chicken dish included andouille sausage that may have over powered its structure and flavors. Too bad as my last glass after dinner seemed to show a lot better. my last sips revealed nice red fruit, rocks and spice on a energetic frame. Tannins need a bit more time to resolve. 2 left and I'll drink them miles down the road. Excellent value, typacity and purity for $45.
Drank in April 2014 (not 2004 as I initially recalled- it did seem like a while ago) at Zuni Cafe. From memory but I was just thinking about how much I enjoyed it and wanted to leave a note. Medium red. Lovely array of Burgundian red fruit with wilder earthy and gamey notes. Very juicy on the palate. Good mineral spine. The people at the table were surprised at how good it was. I remember them asking with delight, "What is this!?"

(Chandon de Briailles Pernand-Vergelesses Premier Cru Île des Vergelesses) Dark cherry fruit here, showing a good intensity of aroma with savoury elements to it redolent of mushroom and truffle, but there is an appealing freshness and vibrancy to it as well. Less granular than the Savigny tasted alongside, a more integrated, admittedly chocolate-tinged polish here. Full, rich, but with a more silky tone to the structure and overall composition which I like. This is certainly no delicate lightweight though, as there is substance and potential here beneath the flavour and definition. Good potential here.
