Let me start off by saying that I am not really a merlot fan - but this was fantastic! Almost forgot about this in my cellar and when I came across it I thought it would be way past its prime, but I was totally wrong! After 45 minutes of air - this was singing with notes of black crushed pepper, dark fruit, charcoal embers, and a hint of pine. The palate is very smooth, the tannins are almost non existent at this point, nice acidity, good fruit on the palate, and a very nice finish. This totally surprised me how good it is. I would say this is in its prime drinking window right now! What a great bottle of wine!

Last bottle and surprisingly still drinking well. Previously I had thought it needed to be drank by 2019, but there are still enough tannins to hold it for a year or two.

Great nose of kirsch, cedar and strawberries. This oak and tannins are fully integrated at this point. An hour of decant is bringing out the full potential of the wine and this wine's quality is indistinguishable from the quality of Monte Bello. Considering the tannins are fully resolved now, I recommend drinking any remaining bottles in the year or so. There is no reason to wait!

Dark red. Red and dark fruits. Currant, black cherry, slight smoke and pepper. A nice merlot that still has a few years to age to develop some nuance.
