Purple drank. Lots of ripe black fruit, garrigue, pepper, and wood all working together in this wine. It's got a lot of body and structure to act as a foil for the ripeness, which to me made this wine that much more impressive. For an inexpensive Cotes du Rhone, there is more depth than one would expect. The finish is great too, spices and tobacco lead the way, gently tapering off after almost a minute.

Blueberry and cherry on the nose with hints of oak. This is a very fruit-forward wine, that is medium-full bodied, and has mouth-coating fine grained tannin. A tart cherry finish with some earthiness, and over considerable time, revealed a trace of mint. This is decently balanced, but could use some time for the tannin to mellow out.

A disaster of a wine. Do not even consider repurchasing. I should have known better when I saw 16% abv.
