Dusty nose every day for 3 days. Dark in the glass and not obviously Pinot. Ripe almost stewed fruit nose but also savory, saline qualities of olives and wet earth. Still quite structured with surprising acidity on day one. I'll likely seek out a better vintage to compare.

Youthful, dark appearance - medium/deep ruby core, medium pale ruby rim. Ripe plum, juicy black cherry, very ripe, notes of chocolate and vanilla. Full bodied on the palate, ripe, ripe fruit on mid-palate, dark cherries and plums, vanilla, subdued acidity and then firm, rustic tannins take over on the medium length finish. A bit big and graceless, not pinot noir as I know it.

Unusually pleasant for an Alsace PN; very clean, ripe, juicy fruit and surprising length. At Hugel's tasting room in Riquewehr. 86-88P.
