Unfortunately this bottle was not in the mood - a real shame because a previous bottle opened last year was showing very well. In this case there were some hints of crushed blackberries and a touch of chocolate fudge but it kind of came and then went. The 01's should be drinking nicely nice as per the above comment and from tasting through some of Bond's portfolio.
Chocolate, vanilla, caramel, French new oak and dark currants on the nose. The wine was very restrained tonight. The wine was very powerful and juicy, but the palate did not really open up. It's still too young to drink now. Maybe this one is an off bottle.
double-decanted, uncorked 2 hours. deep purple still, w/nominal lightening at the margin; expansive, ripe, black currant essence, blackberry cobbler, toasted spice, iron filings; full-bodied, yet lithe; cassis liqueur, grilled black plums, intense & concentrated, cocoa powder-like bitterness, iron ore, refined yet still sturdy tannins, long, long on the finish. this bottle is showing young.
