"I drank all the Giz" (Chicago, IL): Served double blind. One of the surprises of the tasting; I quite liked this despite the plentiful coffee ground notes here. Generously proportioned with fruit, this is showing some moderate aged notes and plenty of tannins too. Couldn't place this blind, but I did enjoy it.

Skouras Megas Oenos Vertical Tasting (Skouras Winery): Harvest: 08/09, Yield: 286hl/ha, production: 26.000 btl, Alc:13.5% The wine was decanted and poured back in the bottle. The wine shows high intensity, a thick core of ripe red and black fruit, earthier spices, the oak is in balance with the fruit, dried and fresh herbs. In the palate the wine is very elegant, a few coffee and smoke notes, a bucket of tannins and acidity, long finish with an alcohol burn (13.5%). The wine feels quite different than the 2007, it seems more developed than it should compared to either 2007 or 2010. The vintage shows a more exotic profile which I rather like.

Well balanced and well structured with focused flavors of red cherries. Very impressive wine.

Velvety tannin, crisp, vanilla, spice, dark plums, earth. Very layered and subtle.

80% Agiorgitiko and 20% Cab, 18m in Barrique, 3400ft elevation vineyards. A rather savory palate, full body, red and black fruit sit at the back.
