  • Big, broad shouldered, modern style CdP. Deeply rich, dark, and powerful. Barely emerging from a deep sleep and likely needs 2-4 more years. Absolutely no signs of fading or ageing.

Opens with curiously concentrated carob aromas that dissipate slowly with long decanting. Gradually, subtle earth and framboise emerge. The wine is very sleek, with well hidden tannins and seemingly subtle acid buried under copious, dry, dark fruits.

Recommend 2+ hours in large decanter. Will prob wait 3+ years to open the next bottle.

  • Past prime. Acidity and tannins were good, but nothing else to say for it. Day 1 too much stewed fruit. Day 2 saw a little added brightness but lacking in any complexity. Didn't finish the bottle - too many more interesting things to drink.

  • My second of six bottles that I purchase 11/2012. The first was flawed and this one had an unpleasant bitter finish. Not sure if it was another bad bottle or I'm not tasting what some others are tasting in this wine. I'll decline to include a numerical score. It did have a very nice nose. I have 4 more bottles, and I'm hoping they are better.

  • FW surf and turf (FW): Tasted in FW, previously tasted 8 years ago and it still a brilliant wine, balanced, fabulous flavors, it drinks easily yet you know it is good stuff, unique flavors that add to the special nature of each sip, would drink again.

  • This was out of balance. The fruit had faded but it was still somewhat tannic, and with good acidity. It was all about earth tones and leather. Disappointing considering the age. The bottle had a lot of sediment. This was my first of three, will be curious to see if this is an anomaly or the start of a trend.
