Darker ruby/garnet color. Opens up after a few minutes in the glass. Pretty.expressive nose of black cherries, some black currant, tar, tobacco and some sweet spices. On the palate it's mainly dark fruit again with tobacco, tar, some flowers and some spicy oak and menthol. Full-bodied and dense, with high tannin (silky) and high acidity, very long finish. Great Barolo on the moderately modern side. I would stil give it a few years in bottle but it's surprisingly.accessible.
Barolo Wine Dinner (Metropolitan wine cellar, HK): Primary, tannic and masculine are the most apparent characters for this wine right now. However, it's been said that this Barolo wine is more modern in style comparing to other Barolos, and it's kinda true, black fruits, jam, candied cherry and licorice come forward in the aroma. Palate is more powerful than other bottles at the dinner table, with fresh fruits and hint of tobacco smoke. A quality young wine and goes very well with the beef short rib, yet should be kept in the cellar for further development.
A strong, almost monolithic now-- big and tannic with just a hint of a ripe fruit. Darker and less expressive wine than the Brunate, showcasing the masculine Seralunga expression of the nebbiolo. Needs at least 5+ years to soften.
