  Decanted for sediment and then left for 40 minutes to cool a little from room temperature. This wine really shone on the nose, full of pine and balsam and delightfully aromatic, with undertones of dusky flowers. On the palate I found tangy red fruit, more balsamic and some dark, burned notes like cocoa and charcoal. Lacked either the impact or beauty of a great wine, but drinking very well now.

  Tiefdunkles, intensives Rubin, opak. Dunkel auch in der Nase, Brombeeren, schwarze Kirschen, Unterholz, etwas Teer. Nicht sehr Barolo-typisch.
  Am Gaumen mittelgewichtig, dunkelbeerige Frucht (wieder Schwarzkirschen), Gewürze, auch irgendwie karamellig, tolles Säuregerüst, feingliedrige Tannine. Perfekte Balance. Für einen Barolo sehr ungewöhnlich (wirkt sehr heiss und vom Aromenprofil etwas nach eingekochter Frucht) aber äusserst interessant!

  Eher fortgeschritten in der Farbe und Nase. Wir hatten parallel einen San Rocco 2008 offen, der Conterno Fantino war dagegen ein älterer Herr. Nase deutet auf Hitze hin. Getrocknete Rosenblätter, Dörrfrüchte, süsse Gewürze. Am Gaumen vollmundig und samtig, ein toller, reifer Barolo! 93
  
  Tag 2 - heute ausgeglichener und deutlich grösser als gestern aber der Wein wirkt (noch mehr als gestern) deutlich älter als er ist. Wunderschön, nur dieses Aromenprofil erwartete ich bei einem 20jährigen Barolo, nicht bei einem Barolo der gerade erst am Beginn des Trinkfensters sein sollte. 94
