Unscrewed & poured at cellar temp. A unique field blend, one which is likely completely different from the neighboring producer, which is why I pick up a GS whenever I see one on the shelf. Fleshy fruit & a healthy acid base walk in harmony here. Medium bodied and by turns, both round and crisp. Layers of spicy fresh fruit kept bright with that acidity.
Power resides behind the bright fruit & this is a wine of finesse. The complexity emerges with our red beans & rice. Very good.

EYE: very clear pale straw. NOSE: green apple slices and white flowers with wet stone. PALATE: refreshing acidity (almost feels pettilant) up front blends into the apple flavor and a slightly spicy finish (baked apple pie with baking spices). OVERALL: this wine offers an interesting juxtaposition - floral mineral nose, bright acid palate and spicy finish that reminds me of fall. Really interesting wine - and the "mixed grape" story of Gemischter Satz makes for fun conversation / education with friends.

Mineral and more apple tones that in previous vintages. Palate is fleshier and more rounded than in previous vintages as well. Is it the weather or a change in style?
